(Huntsville, Alabama) on Tuesday, 5 May 2009, President of the University of Alabama in Huntsville, United States (UAH), Dave Williams, and Director of the Water Center for the Humid Tropics of Latin America and the Caribbean (CATHALAC), Emilio Sempris signed a Memorandum of Understanding is the UAH campus, in order to contribute to sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation between UAH and CATHALAC and develop activities and projects that support research, education and technology transfer on water resources and environmental management, and to address lasvulnerabilidades that may arise from the effects of global climate change.
The initiative to sign a Memorandum of Understanding CATHALAC UAH and grew under the common mission of UAH yl's Marshall Space Flight Center of National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA, its initials in English) was held at the 14th and 17 CATHALAC facility in January this year in Panama City.
CATHALAC is an international organization serving the region of the humid tropics of Latin America and the Caribbean, whose purpose is to promote the sustainable development of applied research and development, education and technology transfer on water resources and the environment, which will help to improve the quality of life in the countries of the humid tropics of Latin America and the Caribbean .
The UAH is a well-known programs such as engineering and science, astrophysics and atmospheric science. UAH researchers traveled to the first program "business" in the U.S. non-governmental rocket. The first superconductor "high temperature" was discovered in UAH and then came the first test aboard the Soviet space station MIR.
